Beware of Email Scam Targeting Students – Yearbook Scam

Are you aware of the recent email scam targeting our students?

The scam involves an email from an external organization called "My Yearbook," claiming to add student profiles to the 2024/2025 yearbook. Unfortunately, some students have fallen victim to this scam, registering and paying for services that do not exist.

Details of the Scam:

The email claims to be from "My Yearbook" and offers to include your profile in the 2024/2025 yearbook.

Students are asked to register and pay for the registration and the digital print of the yearbook.

This organization is not affiliated with our university, and the yearbook offer is fraudulent.

What to Do:

  • Do not respond to or engage with emails from unknown senders. If you receive an email from an unfamiliar organisation, do not click on any links or provide any personal information.
  • Verify the source. If you are unsure about the legitimacy of an email, forward the suspicious email to IDG using the helpdesk@warwick.ac.uk email so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

If You Have Been Affected:

  • If you have already made a payment, contact your bank or payment provider immediately to report the transaction and seek advice on potential recovery of funds.
  • If you have shared your personal details to the site at all, contact the IT Helpdesk as above and also fill out our 'Report a Suspected Data Breach' form. Also, contact Action Fraud and report the incidence
  • Change your university email password and monitor your accounts for any unusual activity.
