Manimaran Srinivasan

What is your name, subject and year of study?

Manimaran Srinivasan - M.Sc., Engineering Business Management, 2024 - 2025.

What drew you to the intercultural training programme in the first place (as facilitator/as student or both)? / Why was it important to you?

I never been to different counties nor had opportunities to interact with people from different part of the world. I was bit nervous about it when I initially joined Warwick. When I heard about this program during the welcome week, I believed this could be the one to overcome my nervousness. And to be honest it was indeed yes.

How has Warwick’s intercultural training programme helped or supported you (as facilitator/as student or both)?

I felt this program was the first step to start the journey as an international student. The program was defined as a bridge for a smooth transition to understand different cultures and people across the globe.

What was the most memorable or important thing you learned from the intercultural training programme (as facilitator/as student or both)?

Wherever you are from across the globe, at the end of the day, everyone is human. However there could be a difference in opinion / language / culture based on geopolitics, everyone feels the same way, how you feel. So, we should respect each other and respect others' choices and respect different views and opinions.

How has the training helped you navigate life as a student at Warwick / your career?

I am currently working as a supplier quality engineer at Dennis Eagle, Warwick. This program certainly helped me to connect with individuals easily in a diverse place like Dennis Eagle.

Why should other students get involved with the programme (as facilitator/as student or both)?

This program was been a wonderful platform and I got my 1st international friends through this program. My friends are from Fiji, Singapore and UK. They became very best friends for life and we even had a trip to Manchester. It was such a sweet memory. So the inter-cultural program gave me such a wonderful friends for life.
