Learn how to swim or improve technique with swimming courses. We help anyone regardless of your initial ability in the water.

  • Available to all
  • Instructor led learning from experienced coaches
  • Different levels, from beginner to advanced
  • 8 week course, with one session per week
  • Female only sessions available

Course prices

Price per course £40.00

University of Warwick staff? You can use a Warwick Learning Access (WLA) voucher and do a course for free.

Course price includes access to showers and changing facilities. Flotation devices and support aids available for all sessions.

Things to know

Where is the pool?
At the Sports and Wellness Hub on the University of Warwick campus, view on map.

What should I bring?
Wear suitable swimwear such as swimsuits, speedos or shorts. A swim hat is recommended for long hair.

Do I need goggles?
You can bring goggles, but they are not required.

Can I leave things by the pool?
Towels and drinks can be taken poolside.

Beginners

Improve your water confidence with this course designed for complete beginners to swimming. Female only sessions available.

What you'll learn:

  • Learn the mechanics of swimming in a friendly environment
  • You'll be gradually introduced to frontcrawl, backstroke and breaststroke
  • Each week will focus on a particular element of the 'BLABT' framework to progress swimming ability - body position, legs, arms, breathing, timing

For those who are confident in the water and able to comfortably swim frontcrawl and backstroke lengths in a 25m pool. Female only sessions available.

What you'll learn:

  • Improved fitness through fun and engaging swim workouts
  • Improved technique for frontcrawl, backstroke and breaststroke
  • Start learning the butterfly stroke

Advanced

Learn to swim as quickly and efficiently as you possibly can. For regular swimmers who are looking to improve your technique and fitness.

What you'll learn:

  • Improving endurance, speed and fitness using exciting training methods from the pros
  • Examining technqiue from the perspective of a competitive swimmer
  • Begin to look at how to tumble turn and effectively streamline
