Professor David Leadley
Biography
Professor David Leadley is responsible for academic leadership of the research portfolio and strategy at the University of Warwick.
Following a DPhil at the University of Oxford, David’s research on semiconductor physics included experiments at international high magnetic field facilities, running a large team at Warwick, and collaborating with a multitude of UK and European partners. David has been at the University of Warwick for thirty years, during which time he has had a wide range of roles that include Head of Physics, Academic Director of the Graduate School, and leader of interdisciplinary research priority on materials. Most recently, as Deputy PVC for Research with responsibility for infrastructure, he directs Warwick’s Research Technology Platforms and is research lead for the STEM Connectprogramme. David promotes Warwick’s research excellence both in and across disciplines and was instrumental in the launching the Warwick Research Spotlights.
David is committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion that underpins Warwick’s leadership in establishing a National Centre for Research Culture; he was part of the team that secured institutional Athena Swan Silver Awards in 2018 and 2024; and he is Warwick’s institutional lead for the Technician Commitment that promotes recognition and opportunities for technical staff in HE.
David is supported by a Research Executive team that includes the Director of Research and Impact Services.
