- The RAE places 91.1% of Warwick’s research staff in its top two categories of 5 and 5* (this almost doubles the proportion of research active staff Warwick had in these top two categories in the 1996 RAE)
- The latest exercise doubled the number of Warwick departments awarded the highest category of 5* The six departments to receive this top category were; Warwick Business School, Economics, English, Theatre Studies, Statistics, and Mathematics (Applied).
"Warwick has been consistently ranked as one of the UK’s leading research universities and we are delighted that the latest RAE confirms that reputation. These excellent research ratings also complement our recent teaching quality assessments in which seven of our departments have achieved perfect scores of 24 out of 24 demonstrating that we are equally committed to excellence in teaching as well as research."Note for Editors: The Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) is conducted every four to five years by the Higher Education Funding Council for England and it assesses the quality of research in universities and colleges in the UK. Around £5 billion of research funds will be distributed in response to the results of the 2001 RAE.
