Who can apply for an emergency loan?

Any student who is experiencing short-term financial difficulty, resulting in a difficulty in meeting their essential living costs (e.g., food) may be eligible for an emergency loan. Certain enrolment and course exclusions apply, such as students who are permanently withdrawn or students who are undertaking a degree apprenticeship. If you would like clarification whether your enrolment status or course excludes you from applying, please contact Student Funding Support at

Please note, if you have any previous emergency loans that are outstanding, or you have already received 3 emergency loans within the last 12 months, this may impact your eligibility for a further emergency loan.

How do I apply for an emergency loan via bank transfer?

You will need to complete an online application. This will be sent to you if you meet our eligibility criteria and indicate that this is your preferred method of payment.

  • You will be required to upload a copy of your Warwick ID card (which must be in date).
  • You will also be required to upload proof of your current bank account balance. This can be a photo of a mini statement from a cashpoint or a screenshot of your online banking.
    • If your evidence does not demonstrate both your name and account number, please also submit a previous bank statement for this account so that this can be cross referenced for verification.

Please note, it can take up to 10 working days for your emergency loan to reach your account, from the date that you submit your bank details on eVision (instructions are sent to you to do this once your application has been processed).

Payment can only be made into UK bank accounts or some digital only bank accounts.
