Saving Money at the Cinema
Blockbuster film season is very nearly upon us- ‘Wicked: For Good’, ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ and ‘The Running Man’ are all due to be released in the next few months. This guide will give you the quintessential tips on how to save money when visiting UK-wide cinema chains and will showcase the best of what Warwick Student Cinema and the Warwick Arts Centre have to offer.
How to save money when visiting cinema chains
Chain cinemas do have decent deals for cinephiles. Odeon has a £15.99 per month MyLimitless + membership packageLink opens in a new window exclusively for students (it would normally be £19.99 per month). Perks with this membership include 10% off concessions snacks, exclusive access to select films before the general public and a 25% discount at Pizza Express. The average price for a standard ticket is £14.99 and so you’ll be getting your money’s worth if you attend at least 2 screenings a month. The nearest Odeon location to campus is in Coventry near the SkyDomeLink opens in a new window. Odeon’s Extras scheme is a free scheme that rewards repeat attendance to their cinemas. You can collect points every time you attend showings that can be used for snack discounts. If you visit twice within 3 months, you can join Odeon Extras +, where you can earn double points, 10% off the price of online bookings, birthday treats and free popcorn upgrades. By signing up to the free Extras scheme, you can have access to Saver Mondays, where you can get discounted tickets for showings on Monday.
If you live in Leamington, the VueLink opens in a new window will be your closest cinema and tickets to see any film any day are capped at £4.99 if you book online or £5.99 if you buy there, which is a bargain!

Warwick Arts Centre
Warwick Arts CentreLink opens in a new window is located next to Senate House and the Piazza: it’s Warwick’s go-to venue for live music, comedy, theatre, arts exhibitions and cinema showings. The cinema’s ticket prices for under-26s is £7.50. Annual membership for under-26s is £10, and with that membership, tickets are £5. One thing to note with the Warwick Arts Centre cinema is that they tend to specialise in indie cinema so many blockbuster films may not be available to watch.
