Zombie Run 2023
Do you have the braaaains to make it through the crash corpse without getting bitten?
Places for the zombie run are now fully booked, but keep an eye out around campus on Wed 25 October, you never know what you might see!
Zombie Run is a 3.5km course, starting from the Sports & Wellness Hub, the goal is to make it all the way through without being bitten* by one of our zombies. Think The Rocky Horror Picture Show meets Couch to 5k!
Sign up and either come along with friends, or come alone and we'll put you together with others to form a group. It's a great way to have fun, meet some new people, and test your skills ready for the zombie apocalypse!
You'll be able to pick your activity level when you arrive, either running, jogging or [the] walking [dead] so we'll match you with others at a similar level.
*our zombies will NOT actually bite, they're really quite misunderstood.
How long will it take?
It should take between 30 - 60 minutes to complete the course, depending on how fast you go. The route is about 3.5km
What should I wear?
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing, such as gym gear and, importantly, comfortable shoes built for running/walking! Remember that it's October, so it may well be wet and muddy underfoot. You'll also need to bring your mobile phone to use the Actionbound app. Lockers will be available at the Sports & Wellness Hub.
How much does it cost?
It's absolutely free to take part, you'll just need to book your place via MyAdvantage as spaces are limited. If you've never used the platform before, you'll need to answer some quick questions about your career aspirations, but you should be able to skip through quickly. If you ever want to use the same platform to sign up for career fairs etc., you can always amend your choices later on.
How does it actually work?
Zombie Run uses an app called Actionbound. To get started, download the app for iOSLink opens in a new window or AndroidLink opens in a new windowLink opens in a new window, either beforehand or when you arrive at the event. You'll then follow the route via the app, which will use GPS to tag you into each checkpoint. Our zombies will attempt to "tag" you at each checkpoint too, if they succeed, they'll mark your arm/t-shirt with UV paint. The paint is invisible naked eye, but you'll be scanned with a UV torch at the finish line to check for bites. We'll give you a full briefing when you arrive though, so don't worry if you still have questions.
