Alaina Emmanuel

Welcome!

Hello everyone and welcome to my ePortfolio. In my portfolio I'd like to give a brief overview about myself and my research.

So let's get started.

A bit about me...

I was born in Lund, Sweden and moved to England in 1998, where I completed my undergraduate BSc in Chemistry with Management at the University of Warwick (2010). Soon after I applied for an MSc in Analytical Science: Methods and Instrumental Techniques (ASMIT), and as part of the course I undertook a research project with the Dave Haddleton group. The course included a broad range of subjects from Statistics to Electrochemistry and even Microscopy. All of which helped me to gain a hands on experience, equipping me with the skills to work in modern lab environments.

My PhD started in 2011, funded by The Leverhulme Trust and I am currently in my first year of research in both the Rebecca Notman group and the Matt Gibson group. The project interests are in Molecular Modelling of Biometric Antifreeze Polymers.

Besides academia, I enjoy a variety of sports, learning new languages and making designs. As a student at Warwick I have been privileged enough to take part in the Student Staff Liaison Committee, One World Week Media Team and as ASMIT Class Rep. During my stay here I have also participated in the Macro group YRM poster presentations and the Student Associate Scheme (a science led Teach Gov initiative).
