Apprentice Video Feedback

We are reaching out to you, our apprentice community, to capture feedback on your apprenticeship programme. We know that you are taking your learning into your workplace and having a positive impact – and we want to hear about it! We are inviting you to create a short video (1-2 minutes maximum) about your apprenticeship programme, your work and the impact you are having in the workplace.

These videos will primarily provide valuable feedback to your programme tutors, but we may also use them to provide prospective employers and apprentices with testimonials from the people who matter most. To help you structure your short video, here are some possible areas for comment:

  • Why did you decide to undertake an apprenticeship programme?
  • What has it been like to work and study within your apprenticeship?
  • How have you used or applied your learning in your job?
  • What positive impact have you been able to bring to your job and work?
  • How has your apprenticeship programme impacted on you, your development and career aspirations?
  • What are the best things about your apprenticeship experience?
  • What if any improvements could be made to your apprenticeship experience?

You can choose to respond to all or some of the above or any other topics that you feel are relevant.

We will also be looking for material in the videos that we can use on our website – we will advise you if your video has been chosen and let you see the edited version before it is used.

Ready to record?

Please take into consideration the following key points:

  1. Technology - The recording can be done via a mobile phone or a webcam using an online platform such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams. If you choose to do it via your mobile phone, please ensure it is securely placed without any movement during the recording.
  2. Sound - To be mindful of any noise or sounds in the background. Please find a quiet place to record your video.
  3. Lighting - Please make sure the lighting is adequate in the place you choose to record your video, i.e., not dim or too bright. Please ensure that your face is suitably lit, and the light source is not casting a shadow over your face.
  4. Background - Please record on a neutral/plain background preferably.
  5. Test Video - Remember to do a test run of the video to check for quality, sound and lighting.
  6. Script - Please do not appear to be reading from a script. We would encourage you to plan what you want to say but we want to hear a natural and authentic account of your experience.
  7. Be general when mentioning your employment - Please do not name your employer specifically, but instead reference your 'job', 'place of work' or 'employer'.
