Grading Guidelines
As with previous years, students complete the programme and receive module scores and accompanying grades. Grade boundaries mirror those used at an undergraduate level and are as follows:
Percentage Score |
Grade |
70+ | Distinction |
60 – 69 | High Credit |
50 – 59 | Credit |
40 – 49 | Pass |
0 – 39 | Fail |
Failed Students
Students must achieve a minimum score of 40 in the final examination and scores of no less than 40 across all summative assignments in order to receive a 'Pass' grade overall.
Where a student receives a score of above 40 but an award of a Fail, a candidate should be understood to have failed either the examination or assessment component.
Approval
All marks are approved by an Examination Board with conferring power delegated by the University Senate. Where candidates have been awarded a grade outside the boundaries outlined above, this decision has been made by the Examination Board on account of matters of mitigation.
