"The workbooks contains a set of topics and material it would be useful to know before starting your mathematics module(s) on the Warwick IFP.

Mathematics is a discipline in which advanced knowledge builds upon more basic knowledge. It is essential therefore that before starting the Warwick IFP you make sure you are familiar with the basic skills.

By working through the workbook, you can identify and deal with any areas of weakness in order to lay down firm foundations for a successful period of study on the Warwick IFP and beyond.

The workbook contains key points, examples and practise problems for each topic.

It is not necessary to know all this material, but it would make your first term more comfortable if you did know it.

If you find some of the material unfamiliar, it would be worth doing more exercises from a textbook to supplement those given in the workbook.

If you have difficulties with some questions, don’t worry; you will have opportunities to cover the material when you begin the Warwick IFP.

If you are familiar with most of the topics in the workbook, then that is great! However, it is still worthwhile working though the practise problems as it will be good revision. You also never really know if you have understood a problem until you do it. We will share the answers with you before you arrive so you can review your work."
