Student Experience | International Foundation Programme

Student Experience

We want our students to have an excellent experience, which prepares them for life as an undergraduate.

We aim to ensure you feel welcome and part of our IFP community, as well as engaged with and integrated into the wider University.

Before you Arrive

Before you arrive, we will share useful information and content to help you prepare for your arrival. All information will be provided on a dedicated offer-holder website which will guide you through the process of arrivals, induction and welcome week. We will also communicate with you regularly and you can always contact our friendly team for advice.

Pre-Departure Briefings

We run pre-departure briefings for our international students which will help you to understand what to expect in the first few weeks and help you prepare for your time at Warwick and in the UK.

Welcome Week

The University runs a fun and informative Welcome Week for all new students. It is designed to help you settle into university-life, make friends, learn your way around, adapt to a new country and understand all the opportunities and support available - and to be ready for day one of your course.

Social Events and Gatherings

We love to get together with our IFP students!

There are a number of opportunities across the year to meet for food and drinks and engage with your fellow students, along with some of our IFP Alumni studying their degrees at Warwick.

In previous years we've hosted Christmas parties, trips to Winter Wonderlands, as well as pizza and quiz activities.

End of Year Celebration

This finale event is a highlight in the academic calendar and a perfect opportunity to celebrate your success and the end of teaching. Staff and students get together for an evening event with food, drinks and entertainment.

There are also awards to recognise our outstanding students' achievements, as voted for by staff, as well as by fellow students.

Engaging with Warwick

Throughout the IFP, you'll be encouraged to attend events and activities that are hosted by the other Warwick departments. Some of these events are even arranged specifically for IFP students, to help you get to know the academic department that you are looking to progress to.

SSLC and Feedback

All academic departments have a Student Staff Liaison Committee and this gives elected students on the IFP regular opportunities to meet our staff and provide feedback. We also ask for regular feedback on our teaching and programmes. This allows two-way communication and helps us to make improvements to the programme which we share with students.

Peer Mentoring

Our Warwick IFP Alumni run a very successful peer mentoring programme matching students with an IFP graduate currently studying at Warwick.
