What UG course did you study and what was your favourite part about it?

I studied Economics during my undergraduate years, and my favourite part of the course was its blend of theoretical and practical applications. The curriculum offered a deep dive into economic principles while also intellectually challenging me to analyse real-world issues, from financial markets to global trade, and even environmental economics! I particularly enjoyed the electives and the interactive seminars of such courses, whereby I was pushed to think critically about global economic issues and provide a strong analytical framework that I continue to rely on today. Also, the collaborative environment and discussions with like-minded peers enriched my learning experience. This hands-on approach deepened my understanding and sparked my passion for the dynamic field of Finance and Economics, ultimately guiding my career path.

How did your IFP course support your academic journey?

The IFP course at Warwick played a pivotal role by providing a solid foundation in critical thinking and academic skills that prepared me for the rigors of undergraduate study. The tailored curriculum and supportive faculty helped me transition smoothly into the university's academic environment, ensuring I was well-equipped to succeed. Beyond academics, the IFP also allowed me to form lasting friendships with a diverse group of students, who became an essential part of my support system throughout my time at Warwick. These relationships enriched my university experience as we navigated the challenges and celebrated the successes together. Furthermore, the course encouraged active participation in extracurricular activities, shaping me into a more well-rounded individual, ready to take on the demands of university life.

What was your favourite thing about being a student at Warwick?

What I cherished most about being a student at Warwick was the dynamic blend of academic rigor and a supportive, inclusive community. The university fostered an environment where I could explore my intellectual curiosities while also engaging with peers who were equally passionate and driven. This atmosphere not only challenged me academically but also allowed me to develop leadership and interpersonal skills through active participation in various student societies. Serving as President of the Warwick Dubai Society and the Warwick International Foundation Program, and working as a Student Consultant with Enactus Warwick Consulting, were standout experiences that shaped my personal and professional growth. These roles provided me with the opportunity to lead diverse teams, collaborate on impactful projects, and make meaningful contributions to the student body.

What are your future plans and ambitions?

I am currently a Financial Markets graduate at Standard Chartered Bank in the Dubai office. My future plans include advancing my expertise in investment banking and to contribute significantly to the global financial markets while enhancing my strategic and analytical skills.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of studying the IFP at Warwick and who are interested in progressing to an undergraduate degree here?

For anyone considering the IFP at Warwick, my key advice is to view it as more than just a stepping stone—it’s an opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the academic and social life of the university. The IFP provides an excellent foundation, both academically and personally, preparing you for the challenges of an undergraduate degree. Make the most of the small class sizes and close-knit community to build relationships with your peers and professors. Engage deeply with the course content, and don't be afraid to ask questions or seek support when needed. Finally, get involved in extracurricular activities, as these experiences will not only enhance your university experience but also help you develop a plethora of skills essential for success in your future studies.
