Withdrawals and Breaks in Study
The information below describes important factors to consider before withdrawing or taking a break in your studies.
You may wish to refer to the University regulations governing taking a break in studies, Home Office reporting and curtailment of your Student visa, or if you will be resitting without residence.
Keeping your contact details up to date:
It is extremely important that you keep your contact details up to date with both:
- The Home Office UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI)
- The UKVI will usually contact you via email, so make sure that you have provided the email address of an account that you regularly check.
AND
- The University
- This is to ensure that you receive any emails or written correspondence regarding your course AND your Right to Study.
- You can check and update your contact details using Student Records Online.
Time limit for studying in the UK:
There are limits to the total time you can spend studying in the UK on a Student Visa.
Periods of withdrawal or breaks in study are not discounted from the time limit for studying in the UK.
If after a period of temporary withdrawal you no longer have enough time in your Study Cap or you are ineligible for a Student Visa for any other reason, the University will be unable to issue a CAS for a new Student Visa.
If you are not eligible for a Student Visa, you may need to consider alternative Immigration Permissions that allow you to study in the UK. If you are not able to secure alternative suitable immigration permission for study you will be required to withdraw from Warwick.
