Enrolment and your Visa
This page will help you to understand which Visa type to select so that you can complete the online course registration part of Enrolment.
Please note, if your nationality requires you to have immigration permission to study in the UK, you will need to provide evidence of this when you complete the online course registration.
Please note: If you only require an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) to come to the UK for your studies, please look at the information under Visitor Visa.

When can't you enrol?
The following types of UK Visa do not permit the holder to study at the University of Warwick:
- Graduate Visa
- High Potential Individual
- Non-Warwick Sponsored Student Visa, if you have not yet applied for a new Student Visa using a CAS assigned by Warwick.

You will have a Visitor Visa vignette if you are a non-EU national, have applied for your Visit Visa overseas and your course is fewer than 6 months long.
Type: Standard Visitor Visa
If your Visa is linked to a family member, such as a parent or spouse, this will apply to you.
Type: Dependant Visa (any)
When registering for your course, please select the correct 'Visa Type' based on where you applied for your Student Visa.
- Visa Type: Warwick Student Visa - applied overseas
Choose this option if you applied for your Student Visa outside the UK
- Visa Type: Warwick Student Visa - applied UK
Choose this option if you applied for your Student Visa from within the UK.
To evidence your immigration status, you must request a free share codeLink opens in a new window from UKVI and provide this when required.
If you have made a Student Visa application from inside the UK but do not yet have a decision, you can still complete online course registration while waiting for the outcome.
You will need to upload the following evidence of your in-progress Visa application:
- current UK immigration permission;
- UKVI application acknowledgement email, confirming the type of Visa you have applied for;
- confirmation of your UKVI appointment, if required to attend.
Type: Applied for a visa in the UK but not yet rec'd visa
This will apply if you were granted pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme. You will need to request a free share codeLink opens in a new window as evidence of this digital permission.
Type: EU Settlement Scheme - Pre-Settled Status
This will apply if you have been granted leave to remain as a Refugee by the Home Office.
If you do not have a passport, please upload any other travel document you may have.
If you do not have any kind of travel document, please upload a copy of your offer letter.
Type: Refugee - limited leave to remain
When registering for your course, please select the correct 'Visa Type'
Visa Type: Long Term Work Visa
Select this option if:
- You hold a Skilled Worker visa sponsored by a UK employer, or
- You have a valid Tier 2 visa under any category.
*If you are studying full-time while being sponsored on a work visa, you will be required to provide a letter from your employer confirming that they are happy for you to undertake full-time study while continuing to be sponsored when required.
You can apply to enter the UK for 6 months as a Visitor at the border if you are a non-Visa national. You may receive a stamp from an official. If you are able to use an E-gate, you will not get a stamp, but still have visit visa status for 6 months from the date you enter the UK.
The Visa start date is your date of entry (or intended date of entry) to the UK, the end date is six months after.
Type: Standard Visitor Visa
For the Visa number, enter APPLY ON ARRIVAL.
This will apply if you have any of the above Visas, or leave granted under Tier 1, Innovator or Entrepreneur routes.
Type: Investor, Business Development or Talent Visa
If you currently have an asylum application in progress, you will need to upload the following evidence:
- an ARC or BRP;
- any correspondence from UKVI regarding your claim for asylum;
- a letter from a lawyer or solicitor handling your case (if appropriate);
- any Bail letter(s) issued by the Home Office
Type: Asylum Seeker
This would apply if you upgraded existing pre-settled status granted under the EU Settlement Scheme and have now been given Settled status.

Type: EU Settlement Scheme - Settled Status
If you are a non-EU national and applied for your Student Visa from outside the UK before 15 July 2025, you will be issued:
- A Temporary Travel Visa (vignette) to enter the UK, and
- An eVisa, which confirms your immigration status digitally.
You must wait until your visa is granted before completing your online course registration.
When registering for your course, please select the correct 'Visa Type'
Visa Type: Warwick Student Visa Temporary Travel Visa
If you applied for your Student Visa outside the UK before 15 July 2025.
If you have been granted permission to enter or leave to remain under one of the UK Ukraine Visa schemes, then this will apply to you.
If you applied from inside the UK then you may have a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP).
If you applied from overseas or were granted digital status, then request a share code as evidence of your immigration permissionLink opens in a new window.
Type: Limited leave to remain - other visa
You will need to upload the following evidence of your in-progress Visa application:
- current UK immigration permission;
- UKVI application acknowledgement email, confirming type of Visa applied for;
- confirmation of UKVI appointment, if required to attend.
Type: Applied for a visa in the UK but not yet rec'd visa
Type: Settled in the UK
If you have been granted leave under any of the Tier 5 Visa categories or hold a Visa from a Government Authorised Exchange or Global Business Mobility route, this will apply to you.
Type: Short Term Work Visa
You may still be issued a vignette if you are:
- a dependant on any visa type, or
- a main applicant for visa types other than study or work.
Additionally, you will receive a Student Visa vignette if:
- You are a non-EU national, you applied for your Student Visa outside the UK, and your course is less than 6 months long.
- You applied for your Student Visa before 15th July 2025*.

Visa Type: Warwick Student Visa - applied overseas
*From 15 July 2025, the Home Office is phasing out temporary travel vignettes for most study and work visa applicants. Instead, you will need to:
- Create a UKVI accountLink opens in a new window, and
- Access your eVisaLink opens in a new window before travelling to the UK.
You’ll receive instructions during your visa application process.
This will apply to you if you have been granted a visa to live in the UK under the Hong Kong BN(O) Visa Route.
Type: Limited leave to remain: other visa
If you cannot find your visa type above, but you hold another type of visa which allows you to live in the UK.
