1. Describe your current role and what attracted you to it
As Senior Sustainability Manager at Virgin, I drive strategic ESG initiatives across our diverse portfolio - helping to embed sustainability and purpose into our business decisions. I was drawn to Virgin’s entrepreneurial spirit and the opportunity to deliver wide reaching impact (and disruption) across sectors and systems.
2. What are the key sustainability skills you learnt at Warwick that have helped you with your career to date?
My PhD in Chemistry at Warwick laid the foundation for my career, teaching me how to think critically and deconstruct big ideas. It showed me how to connect dots in a system, enabling me to drive change in complex challenging spaces - powered by my background in the hard sciences.
3. What top tips do you have for Warwick graduates who would like to work in your sector?
Sustainability is shifting from high-level strategy to embedded operations - I recommend developing the ability to translate big ideas into practical business cases. Focus on developing both technical and interpersonal expertise; this job is about helping people connect their job functions to the planetary and social impact that matters.
