Volunteer with the Donation Drive

Join our incredible community of staff, students, and local volunteers and be part of something genuinely impactful. Last year, together we collected an amazing 9.5 tonnes of donations, with 74% successfully rehomed instead of going to waste — and this year, we want to go even further.

From sorting food and books to giving a second life to kitchenware, bedding, and small electricals, every item you handle helps someone else and reduces waste. Be part of the team that turns move-out into meaningful change.

What does volunteering entail?

Help sort and triage donations from students, weigh and record items, and make sure everything is organised and ready for charity collection and the Kitchen Kit Market. This is a hands-on, physical role that will involve some lifting, but it’s a great way to see the direct impact of your efforts. You’ll also play a key part in spreading the word—encouraging your colleagues, friends, and networks to donate and get involved, helping us divert even more items from waste.

This is a Warwick Award recognised activity.

Why volunteer?

"Helping out with the Donation Drive was such a rewarding experience. It felt great knowing we were helping reduce waste and give items a second life. The team was very friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere was positive, and even though the work was physical, it was genuinely fun and energising! I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get involved in sustainability on campus!!" (Keshani Boosoo, Undergraduate, Warwick Medical School)

"Working at the donation drive was very enjoyable and rewarding, especially as someone who comes from a sustainability academic background. It was great to contribute to something that reduces waste, encourages circular economies, and gives back to the local community. I loved speaking with the other volunteers, charity partners, and organisers and learnt a lot from them. Would definitely recommend!" (Ruqaiyah Jarviton, Undergraduate, Global Sustainable Development and Philosophy)
