From Lens to Learning: MammalWeb Training at Warwick
In 2025, the University of Warwick's Wellesbourne Innovation Campus was selected as a study site for the National Hedgehog Monitoring Programme. This nationwide project is exploring the feasibility of using wildlife trail cameras to provide accurate population estimates for hedgehogs, and we are proud to be able to contribute to the study.
Almost 400,000 images were captured by the 30 cameras at our Wellesbourne campus (the project collected almost 1.2 million images throughout Warwickshire!), which are awaiting wildlife enthusiasts to ID them on MammalWeb.
The workshop in January introduced participants to the platform and the wonderful images from the area. If you were unable to attend but would like to give it a go, please feel free to do so, it’s very easy. For a handy guide visit mammalweb_user_guide.pdfLink opens in a new window.
