UN Sustainable Development Goals

The UN Sustainable Development Goals inform how Warwick defines, approaches and addresses sustainability. These important goals highlight the complex interdependencies between environmental, social and economic sustainability by connecting the themes of People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership.

The United Nations Sustainable Development GoalsLink opens in a new window (SDGs) were introduced in 2015 as a 'blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all'. The 17 goals (169 targets) cover areas such as poverty, hunger, equality, economic growth, climate change and justice, and were adopted by all UN Member States as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

To show our intention to work towards the SDGs, our Vice-Chancellor, Stuart Croft, signed the SDG AccordLink opens in a new window in February 2020, committing the University to annually reporting on our contribution towards the Goals.

We are happy to say we have completed our second annual submission to the SDG Accord and we are in the process of mapping the SDGs onto our activities at Warwick.
