University Relaunches Donation Initiative for Furniture and Electricals

The University has enhanced its system for donating suitable furniture and electrical items that cannot be reused on campus to our officially onboarded local partner organisations.

As the University moves towards a more circular economyLink opens in a new window, we want to promote the best use of resources through reuse, refurbishment and redistribution before we consider recycling. As such, we’re delighted that these improved processes will help us to extend the life of surplus furniture items and electrical appliances. The donation scheme aligns with two key pillars of the University’s strategy: sustainability and regional leadership.

Do you have unwanted furniture or electricals in your department? Please list items on Warwick SwapLink opens in a new window as a first step to finding them a new home. If there are no takers on Warwick Swap you can request for items to be removed via the Estates helpdesk. The Furniture Team or Energy & Sustainability Team will triage items and either store them for later use on campus or coordinate the donation process.

To ensure that items remain in good condition and suitable for donation, please store them indoors until collection. This helps to prevent damage and maximises their potential for reuse.

Thank you for supporting this initiative and helping us to make a positive impact both on campus and in the wider community.
