Early Modern and Eighteenth Century Centre

Early Modern and Eighteenth-Century Research at Warwick

The Early Modern and Eighteenth-Century Centre (EMECC) reflects the core strength of early modern and pre-modern history in Warwick’s Department of History. Covering a large time period (1450 to 1850), the Centre works on major research projects, as well as providing an interdisciplinary forum for academic and postgraduate students in the humanities. We organise a range of events throughout the academic year, including workshops, seminars, postgraduate training sessions, works in progress, book launches, and conferences.

About the Centre

EMECC was established in Spring 2017, growing out of the former Eighteenth Century Centre, the Early Modern Forum (a major AHRC-funded project), and the core strength in early modern history of Warwick's Department of History. It enjoys close relations with the Global History & Culture Centre and the Centre for the Study of the Renaissance at Warwick, and is involved in several partnerships and networks with scholars and institutions around the world.
