One Coventry Partnership issues callout for artists to create social distancing art.
The One Coventry Partnership, including Coventry City of Culture Trust, Coventry City Council and West Midlands Police, have come together to create a new artistic commissioning programme which shares the message of social distancing being ‘Our New Normal’.
Artists with CV postcodes are invited to create artwork which communicates the importance of observing social distancing and staying at home to save lives during the coronavirus pandemic. The artwork could be a public artwork, graphic design, animation/video or anything in between. It could be distributed online, as signs/posters, or in public spaces across the city including parks and outside supermarkets to spread the word to the people of Coventry.
The artwork should be playful but crucially offer a clear message that will help save lives. It can involve humour and should help people feel positive about social distancing and serve as a reminder, or prompt, for how their actions could have massive positive effects in their community.
The artwork should also be able to transcend cultural and language barriers; or be able to be translated into different languages to ensure that no part of Coventry’s diverse community is left out.
The fee for this work will be up to £1,000 + VAT for the delivery of the final artwork.
Applications close on the 1st May, and successful artists will be notified by 4th May at the latest.
