University of Warwick researchers have shared their knowledge in the development of a new play showing at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry last week.
Like There's No Tomorrow has been conceived, written and performed by The Belgrade’s Young Company, and commissioned by the National Theatre Connections programme. Academics from the University of Warwick spent time with the cast and writers of the new production to help feed in and break down scientific facts about climate change and environmental issues. Warwick academics also joined in a panel discussion after the performance on Friday (13 March).
Can you spare 10 minutes to talk to artist Matthew Raw and to express your feelings and plans about the move of the Arts and Humanities departments into the new building? He is interested in talking to anyone who will live with the building (and mural!) every day. If you would like to be involved, please contact Sarah Shalgosky asap at S.H.Shalgosky@warwick.ac.uk.
We have commissioned the artist Matthew Raw to work with the tile manufacturers NBK to make a large scale mural for the ground floor exterior of the new Arts Building.
Matthew was artist in residence at the V&A and has researched the ceramic history of Coventry and in particular, the ceramics of the post-war period. His focus for our commission draws on that sense of the future that the post-war art of our city tried to express. He would like to talk to staff and students about their sense of what this new building will initiate and to draw from you ideas and imagery that can inform his work.
Matthew is coming to see us at Warwick on the 3 March from 11.30 – 17.00. We do hope that as many of our staff and students as possible will be able to talk to him and look at his proposals and discuss connections with your ideas and work.

The Partnership’s two previous calls have funded 26 innovative and inclusive projects, and continue to build upon other initiatives such as the Warwick Commission on the Future of Cultural Value, and Coventry City Council’s Cultural Strategy.

The run up and duration of 2021 is going to be a very busy time for Coventry and Warwick. With so much going on across the city and region, there will be lots of opportunities to host a conference that will be that little bit more special and memorable for you and your delegates. Warwick Conferences are here to support you across the whole process of attracting and hosting a conference.
