The final connection to the gas main on the Gibbet Hill Road is due to be made in December. In order to prepare for this, work will be taking place over the weekends of Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 October and Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 October.
The work will take place as follows:
Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 October
Traffic lights will be in operation along Gibbet Hill Road, between the pedestrian crossing by the Gibbet Hill campus and carpark 2.
Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 October
Four-way traffic lights will be in operation at Kirby Corner roundabout.
Please note, the road will not be closed at any point over these two weekends, but the traffic lights in operation mean that traffic flow along the road will be slower.
The final connection work will take place from Monday 8 December to Friday 19 December. During this time, the Gibbet Hill Road will be closed between carpark 2 roundabout and the Gibbet Hill campus.
During this two week period, diversion routes will be in operation as follows:
Access to Gibbet Hill campus will be unaffected. Those wanting to access carpark 2 will need to follow the diversion.
All traffic wishing to access central campus will need to follow road diversions along the A45 and Kirby Corner Road to enter via the Gatehouse.
Alternatively, University members who want access to central campus will be able to use the entrance at Lynchgate Road (by the Claycroft residences). This access point will be open between 8am -12pm for incoming traffic and 2pm–7pm for outgoing traffic. There will be no access for vehicles between 12pm-2pm.
