Brain behaviour, mental health & wellbeing

Introduction

In the UK, approximately one in four people experience a mental health related problem each year, and one in ten children and young people have a diagnosed mental health condition. These numbers are only increasing, meaning the need to improve our services, awareness, and personalised mental health support is more vital than ever.

We need to be able to provide efficient diagnosis and treatment, especially for young people and vulnerable groups, where stigma may reduce the likelihood of individuals seeking help.

These solutions can take different forms, such as digital and technological based tools and support, or mental health support in schools, workplaces, and beyond. At Warwick, our interdisciplinary approach to mental health and wellbeing means we are well placed to help deliver these solutions and make a real impact on people’s lives.

Reforming Youth Mental Health Services

One in ten children and young people have a diagnosable mental health condition. But poor transition between adolescent and adult services can leave them without access to crucial treatment. Warwick research has identified areas for improvement, to help reform youth mental health services both in the UK and internationally.
