Commitment to employee mental health by employers leads to multiple benefits within the workplace and wider community.
The Mental Health and Productivity Pilot (MHPP) project involves various stakeholders from across the Midlands and is led by the University of Warwick (Professor Caroline Meyer), Coventry University (Professor Guy Daly) and the West Midlands Combined Authority (Sean Russell).
As part of the MHPP project, the University of Warwick in partnership with the Enterprise Research Centre (Professor Stephen Roper) conducted a survey of 1,900 private-sector employees across the ME region and found that absence of work contributed to over 25% loss of productivity.
WMG, Warwick (Professor Caroline Meyer, Dr Carla Toro, Dr Talar Moukhtarian, Dr Krishane Patel and Laura Chandler) are also leading on providing a suite of evidence-based interventions to improve the mental health of employees in diverse work settings across the whole of the Midlands and explore the impact on productivity.
The trials will run from October 2020 to June 2022 and involve partners from the Department of Psychology (Dr Lukasz Walasek, Dr Nicole Tang), the University of Birmingham (Professor Steven Marwaha), Loughborough University (Dr Femidah Munir) and Mind.
