CHMST Inaugural Annual Lecture, David Arnold - 'Growing the Histories of Science, Technology and Medicine in the Age of Empire'

Abstract: 

Arguing for a growing connectedness between histories of science, technology and medicine, David Arnold examines several shared themes and approaches, and considers the possibilities of empire as a site for further developing this connectivity. Using examples drawn primarily from British India, his illustrations range from representations of human disease and medicine to the spatiality of race, subaltern agency, animal diaspora and marine surveys.
