Xi'an Cultural Trip

Xi’an Cultural Trip in China (中国西安-文化旅行)

The Language Centre organises Xi’an Cultural Trip hosted by Northwest Polytechnic University (NPU), Xi’an, China.

• 4 weeks in total (free Chinese lessons and internship)

• Free internship in Shaanxi History Museum for SMLC students
• Free accommodation for SMLC students (first come, first served)
• Students will be provided with a certificate after their work experience.

Students of Chinese in Warwick Language Centre and members of staff working School of Modern Languages and Culture (SMLC) are also welcome to join!

Xi'an, the Capital of Ancient China, is a place of history. Emperors of thirteen dynasties chose here as their political, cultural and economic center. It has been a bright pearl along the Silk Road for 2000 years.

Time: 1 - 28 July, 2024. (tbc for 24-25)

Costs:

  • Accommodation (on-campus): free for 6 SMLC students (first come, first served)

  • Two occupants sharing en-suite twin bedded room for others (around 240 CNY per night for two people)

  • Train fares: Beijing – Xi’an (for those already in China), 255 CNY overnight sleeper train for 12 hours – 519 CNY High Speed train for 4 hours. More details can be found http://www.beijingchina.net.cn/transportation/train/train-to-xian.html

  • Entrance fees to historical places to be self-paid (some places are free)

  • Work experience in Shaanxi History Museum (arranged by NPU)

  • Networking with the local university students from Foreign Language Departments (arranged by NPU)

  • Touring places (arranged by students)

How to apply (see the form on the right): Upon applying, you are required to pay £25 administration fee online(non-refundable).
