Marta Spina
Marta is Phd candidate at the Centre for the Study of the Renaissance. Her research project analyzes the influence of Sallust in the works of major figures of the European Renaissance like Coluccio Salutati, Lorenzo Valla, Niccolò Machiavelli, Thomas More and Justus Lipsius, just to mention some of them. Her supervisors are Professor David Lines and Professor Ingrid De Smet. She received Chancellor’s International Scholarship from the University of Warwick Doctoral College in 2023.She took both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees with Distinction at the University of Florence. Her research interests involve Petrarch, Petrarch’s handwriting and his marginalia in his manuscripts, Humanism, the Classics and their reception throughout centuries, the political thought of the Renaissance.
