Taught Modules 2024-25
Modules offered in 2024-25 from participating departments are subject to change due to staff availability and student numbers
Apart from the recommended modules below, students may consider other MA modules in Classics and Ancient History, History of Art, Liberal Arts, Global Sustainable Development, Theatre and Performance Studies, English and Comparative Literary Studies, History, Philosophy, School of Modern Languages and Cultures. A case for your request to do ONE such outside module should be made to the Director of Graduate Studies (Rich Rabone) who will co-ordinate with the department in question to ascertain if they would be able to accommodate you on the module.

Autumn Term (Oct-Dec) 2024,
- Compulsory CORE module: Methodology Class (RS902-0), Wednesday 1-2pm OR 2-3pm, depending on what time best fits with your schedule (you will choose). The module is team-taught alongside ECLS
- Themes in Early Modern History c.1450-c.1800 (HI992)
- Deconstructing Medieval and Early Modern Buildings (HA960)

Shakespeare in History (EN9ZF-30). Schedule 2024-25, Mondays, 10-12
- Approaching Ancient Visual and Material Culture (CX 901-30). Schedule 2024-25: Tuesdays 12-2pm (FAB 2.23) or/and Wed. 11am - 1 pm (FAB 2.23) in weeks 1 and 2.
- Modules available (mainly translation) via the School for Modern Languages & Cultures (Speak to Rich Rabone first, if you think you want to take one of these options)
Students may take the modules below, but please note that they are transhistorical modules in which typically only a couple of weeks focus on the period pre-1800. However, students with a particular interest in their themes may wish to explore them in a wider historical period.

Themes in Global History (HI997)
Theories, Skills and Methods (HI989) – please note that this is a historiography module not specifically focussed on early modern history but some students may wish to do it anyhow. Centre students who have already followed it would be happy to discuss it with you ahead of module choice.

- HA964-30 Giotto in Assisi and the Art of the Friars
- HA986-30 Crafting the Global Early Modern
- Early Modern Ecologies (EN9C8-30)
- Classical Epigraphy (CX900-30)
- Art of the Ancient World (CX903-30)
