This reading group, organized by Tom Evans, will take place (on Zoom) from 5-6:30pm (GMT) on 24 January, 21 February, 21 March, and 18 April. The schedule for the monthly meetings will be Petrarch’s Africa (Jan), Sannazzaro’s De partu virginis (Feb), Vida’s Christiad (March), and Milton’s In quintum Novembris (April). Registered participants will we be recommended a range of recent anthologies and editions ahead of each meeting. Rather than being a translation or language class, it is anticipated that the sessions will be more of an informal discussion where participants use translations as well as the Latin original.
