Venice-Bruges: Art Capitals of the Uncanny.
 
Juliet Simpson is Professor of Art History and Chair of Visual Arts Research, Coventry University, UK. She is an internationally-recognised specialist in French/European art, art writing and visual cultures of the ‘fin de siècle’ (1870-1920s). She is currently leading an international project exploring reception of Northern European Renaissance visual cultures in shaping alternative narratives of 19th- and early 20th- artistic and cultural modernities, culminating in a collaboration with the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, for an international conference on ‘Gothic Modernisms’ (1880-1950s) and related publication.
