Sharon Baker

About

Sharon is an artist working with printmaking processes, most recently exploring photopolymer intaglio and lithography. She uses familiar, everyday imagery in her work exploring ideas around nostalgia, class and cultural heritage to question what people value in art and in life. Her practice responds to her environment: the urban and natural landscape and how people affect, influence and change it. She produces work in series which have contrasting styles depending on her subject matter and processes.

Sharon has exhibited across Europe and the UK including in the House of Commons. In 2019 she was winner of the Westmorland Landscape Prize and was awarded the St Cuthbert’s Mill Prize at the Derby Print Open. Recent exhibitions include the Wells Art Contemporary 2021, Ty Pawb Print International 2022 and the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair 2022. In March 2022 she completed a residency at the Grafikwerkstatt, Dresden, Germany, selected by the Coventry/Dresden Arts Exchange.
