Contributors to the Staging DecadenceLink opens in a new window project will be approaching this year’s conference theme – ‘Milestones and Markers’ – by asking what decadence as an art of refined decay might have to say about ‘progress’, ‘civility’, and the state of theatre and performance studies as ‘discipline’. Kicking off our drinks reception on the opening day, expect decadent ruminations by project lead Dr Adam AlstonLink opens in a new window (Winner of the 2024 David Bradby Prize), critical reflections on the life of Elagabalus by Dr Shushma MalikLink opens in a new window, and live acts from Hasard Le SinLink opens in a new window, E.M. ParryLink opens in a new window, and Darkwah Kyei-DarkwahLink opens in a new window & Domenico Iadicicco.

A screening of Sequinette's high camp re-imagining of Oscar Wilde's Salomé, Fancy Phone Numbers (2020), will be screened before the start of the event at the commencement of the wine reception.
