About Me
Lewis is currently a Master of Research Student at the University of Warwick. He had previously completed his Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Musical Theatre at the University of Wolverhampton in which he achieved a first. During his time at Wolverhampton, he worked on modules across many different areas of theatre, the most notable to him being Queer Performance and Production where he designed the set and costume for a queer retelling of Hansel and Gretel, entitled ‘Hansel and Greg,’ set in 1980s London. Part of his degree included a nine-thousand-word dissertation titled ‘Non-Binary Characters in Musical Theatre ‘I’m Not Yet a Girl, Not Yet a Woman’’. This dissertation discussed how characters that may not have been intended to be non-binary could be seen as such and what change may be needed in these musicals to accommodate a non-binary character. Lewis’ interests expand outside of just research with him working on the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games as a costume volunteer helping to create garments, dress performers and organise costumes for the opening and closing ceremonies
