How do I use this calendar?

The toolbar above the calendar has buttons to view different events. Use the left and right arrow icons to view events in the past and future. The button inbetween returns you to today's view. The button to the right of this shows a mini-calendar to let you quickly jump to any date.

The dropdown box on the right allows you to see a different view of the calendar, such as an agenda or a termly view.

If this calendar has tags, you can use the labelled checkboxes at the top of the page to select just the tags you wish to view, and then click "Show selected". The calendar will be redisplayed with just the events related to these tags, making it easier to find what you're looking for.

News from the SDSN UK Hub

A report on the SDSN UK Going Green: Debating the socio-economic impacts of achieving Net Zero’ conference has been published on the SDSN UK Hub website. The event was hosted by the Sustainability & Resilience Institute at the University of Southampton, in partnership with the UCLInstitute for Innovation & Public Purpose (IIPP), and the University of Strathclyde Centre for Sustainable Development.

University of Plymouth: Sustainable Earth event

Registrations are open for the Sustainable Earth 2024: Accelerating Action on Net Zero through Mobilising People-Power event, an online forum hosted by the University of Plymouth on 19 June 2024.

Sustainable Earth 2024 is an online forum for researchers, businesses, NGOs, the public sector, community groups and individuals to come together to tackle global and local challenges around the climate emergency.

It will explore how we can accelerate the action needed on net zero through putting people at the centre of solutions and mobilising, empowering and inspiring the people-power needed to make things happen.

The free event will include keynote presentations, academic and industry guest speakers, action workshops and a documentary film – ‘Power to the People’. The event is free, but registration is required. Find out more details and register.

 

University of York: Climate adaptation plans

The University of York is developing a climate adaptation plan. To avoid reinventing the wheel, it is seeking examples of what already exists from which it can build and learn. If your institution has already developed a strategy, please could you share it with Professor Lindsay Stringer?

 

News from SDSN Global

SDSN Presidents meeting

As you may be aware, SDSN Global is hosting its ‘Presidents Meeting’ on 7 May 2024. It is keen to increase attendance from UK institutions in the SDSN UK Network. It is a unique opportunity for university presidents to meet their peers at a high-level virtual conference to giving global visibility to the SDGs and efforts to address them. They should have already received the invite from SDSN. Please can you follow up with your president’s office (or equivalent – we have a Provost) to encourage them to attend?

The Europe Sustainable Development Report 2023/24 has been published by the SDSN, in collaboration with SDSN Europe and the European Economic & Social Committee. It reveals that decisive actions must be taken in the European Union (EU) to avoid environmental and social ‘tipping points’ and to maintain the promise of achieving the SDGs and the objectives of the Paris Climate Agreement. Read more…

F5 Tech for Good Grants 2024

Open to Nonprofit organisations addressing issues related to environmental justice, such as (but not limited to) climate change mitigation/resilience, hazardous or toxic waste, biodiversity, or environmental education. Those served by the grant must be majority people of colour and/or marginalised racial or ethnic communities. Grants of up to US$ 50,000.

Climate and Clean Air Coalition Innovation Projects in the Waste Sector

Call for proposals from non-profit entities seeking solutions to pressing challenges for short-lived climate pollutant mitigation in the waste sector. Projects submitted should advance innovative approaches and technologies to improve the speed, scale, and access to mitigation action in a developing region, country, or state. US$ 500,000 to US$ 1,000,000

ProBioDev Program to support Projects focused on Biodiversity Conservation

As part of the support programme for biodiversity civil society organisations (ProBioDev) active in developing countries), the International Union for Conservation of Nature French Committee is launching a call for proposals to support projects in developing countries led by civil society partnerships. This initiative aims to support projects focused on biodiversity conservation and nature-based solutions, addressing climate change mitigation and adaptation. €100 000 to €250 000.
