NGOs and migrants in North Cenral America

Erika Herrera Rosales, Sociology

Erika Herrera Rosales is a PhD in the Department of Sociology at the University of Warwick. Her research focuses on the power relations between non-governmental organisations in Mexico and migrants from Northern Central America. Drawing from semi-structured interviews with staff members and migrants and several NGOs’ documents, her research inquires into the roles and practices of humanitarian actors as well as those who are aided in the context of ‘coloniality’. For her fieldwork, she worked with more than a dozen NGOs in the north and south border of Mexico (Tijuana and Tapachula) and in the centre part, specifically, in Mexico City.
