Placement and Case Study

people working This module is a Summer Applied Module (core) on the MA in International Cultural Policy and Management.

This module is intended for students wishing to develop their practical understanding of arts and policy making organisations in the non-profit sector.

You will undertake a six week placement during the summer term with a cultural organisation of your choice. During the autumn and spring terms you will be guided by the module tutor to find yourself a suitable placement to match your needs and interests.

Whilst on placement, you will have the opportunity to experience how cultural management and cultural-policy making work in practice, and gain insight into specific projects and tasks. At the end of your placement you will submit a written study of the organisation, focusing on its development, structure, management and the relationship between strategic and operational activities. Assessment of the module is based on the written case study.

Please note that going on placement outside the West Midlands region might imply extra accommodation costs if you have organised your study accommodation through Warwick Accommodation, due to their contract which will require you to commit to a letting period of between 39 and 50 weeks. Warwick Accommodation is unable to release you from this contract for the time (6-8 weeks) that you will be on placement so you may wish to consider making alternative arrangements. You will receive plenty of advice and guidance about this when making the final selection of your option modules in November.
