Cultivate Seminars - Curriculum Design
Introduction to curriculum design in higher education - online seminar series for 2023/24
Are you interested in learning how to design modules that will support your students’ success in the current, rapidly changing, world?
If you are and have little or no design experience within the higher education context, this series might be for you.
What is it?
Introduction to curriculum design in higher education is a series of four 90-min online seminars aiming to introduce curriculum design as a crucial and complex social practice operating within and beyond dynamic higher education contexts.
Seminar 1, Exploring curriculum as a social practice, will focus on a broad literature informed discussion of the current nature of curriculum and curriculum design practices in the UK higher education contexts.
Seminar 2, Re-imagining curriculum, will introduce the first step in the design process and delve into the ‘bigger picture’ of curriculum development such as the consideration of module aims, intended learning outcomes (ILOs), assessment, and stakeholders.
Seminar 3, Crafting curriculum, will move into the second step in the design process, and demonstrate how a fit-for-purpose curriculum that supports student success can be built.
Seminar 4, Critiquing curriculum, will look at ways in which to critically engage with curriculum designs (either our own or those designed by others) in the rapidly changing HE contexts and beyond.
The sessions will be led by Jo Kukuczka from the Academic Development Centre.
You are welcome to attend all or just some of the seminars, and there is no preparation required. Certificates of attendance will be issued upon request.
**Please note, registration will close at 9am on the day of each seminar.**
