Associate Fellowship (Advance HE)

Who is Associate Fellowship for?
Individuals applying for Associate Fellowship will be able to provide evidence of effectiveness in relation to their teaching and/or supporting learning roles and will be able to evidence some of the PSF Dimensions. Their teaching and learning role may sometimes be undertaken with the assistance of more experienced teachers or mentors. Examples of roles which may evidence Associate Fellowship criteria include:
- Early career researchers with some teaching responsibilities (e.g. PhD students, GTAs, contract researchers/post-doctoral students etc.);
- Staff new to teaching (including those with part-time academic responsibilities);
- Staff who support academic provision (e.g. learning technologists, technicians, learning developers and learning resource/library staff);
- Staff who undertake demonstrator/ technician roles that incorporate some teaching-related responsibilities;
- Experienced staff in relevant professional areas who may be new to teaching and/or supporting learning, or who have a limited teaching portfolio.
About Associate Fellowship and the Professional Standards Framework (PSF) 2023
Associate Fellowship is suitable for professionally recognising individuals from diverse backgrounds whose higher education teaching and/or support of learning practices allow them to demonstrate some of the PSF 2023 Dimensions. This fellowship acknowledges their ability to meet the standards outlined in PSF 2023 Descriptor 1.
Associate Fellowship (Descriptor 1) is awarded to recognise an individual’s effectiveness of practice in teaching and/or support of learning as demonstrated through evidence of meeting the following three Descriptor 1 criteria statements:
- D1.1 use of appropriate Professional Values, including at least V1 and V3.
- D1.2 application of appropriate Core Knowledge, including at least K1, K2 and K3.
- D1.3 effective and inclusive practice in at least two of the five Areas of Activity.
