Case Studies

Case Studies
What are the possibilities and challenges of opening up data archives for interpretative research?
We explore this broad question in three cases studies below.
Our case studies examine data archives that were summitted to the project by University of Warwick researchers and scholars in response to our call for data sets:
Case Study 1: EcopoeticsLink opens in a new window
An open archive of field recordings
Case Study 2: Data and DisplacementLink opens in a new window
Promises and challenges of open qualitative data
Case Study 3: The Stochastic Parrots ControversyLink opens in a new window
Opening up Twitter conversations
The case studies address the following questions:
- How does this data archive facilitate open interpretative research?
- What challenges and possibilities does this open up?
- What are different ways of opening up this data?
Our answers to these questions are informed by a participatory workshop that the project hosted in July 2024 to examine these and other data archives curated by researchers and scholars at the University of Warwick.
