We hope that most participants will find their own financial support to attend, but we have raised a small amount of funds for some categories of participant to apply for partial support.
- The London Mathematical Society has provided £1000 towards the attendance of Mathematics research students studying in the UK if they do not have other means of support and £1000 towards the attendance of participants from countries in Africa or in a similar position and countries of the former Soviet Union.
In addition, the EPSRC has awarded £5000 towards the attendance of research students from outside the UK.
Applications for such financial support should be directed to the Conference Event Manager, Aude Exbrayat eccs09@warwick.ac.uk , marked for the attention of Prof. R.S. MacKay.
- The ASSYST Project, via the Gender Committee group and activities is strongly supporting the participation of different categories of scientists in attending scientific events organized by it and participating at appropriate actions developed within the targets assumed.
With a high care for the community money and project objectives fulfillment, our intention is to provide for the next 3 years, the best and equilibrate support for people belonging to different social /cultural minorities or groups. Therefore, we open a competition to obtain financial support up to 1000 Euro per person (covering conference fees and travel) for participation at ECCS conference in Warwick. The total amount of money dedicated for this action can not exceed 8000 Euros in total. The rules of the lowest cost will be applied in any situation so that we are able to cover as many as possible expenses and participants.
The competition is open to all potential participants under the following criteria:
(a) Participants belong to an under-represented minority, e.g. females, ethnic minorities, disabled, etc. (proved by a specific document, if necessary)
(b) Participants have not attended ECCS before
(c) Participants are accepted to present a paper or poster by the conference organizing committee of the ECCS in Warwick
(d) Participants are able to prove strong dedication for a scientist career.
The applications may be sent via email to Carmen Costea prof.costea@gmail.com under the subject “Application for an ECCS bursary for Warwick conference” by the 15th of July.
The final decision will be taken and announced by the end of July.
The application may consist in a letter with strong arguments against the above mentioned criteria and a copy of the travel /reservation costs.
