    General hints & tips:

    • When typing, to start a new line below the current line, without leaving a gap, hold down shift whilst pressing enter.

    Protocol for making additions:

    • Where appropiate, newest additions should be at the top of a page, or, if the page is in sections, at the top of the appropriate section.
    • Please start each entry with the date and your initials in bold. This will help to clearly divide entries.
If an entry requires action by someone, please put this in bold at the end and link to the corresponding entry in the To-do list. e.g.

      3/8/10 SMH
      Text text text text.........
      Action: SMH

    • Initials are as follows:
DH - David Holmes, MJB - Martine Barons, SMH - Steven Hill, BB - Barinder Banwait, SH - Sebastian Helmensdorfer, SM - Sara Maloni, JP - James Porter, PC - Paul Chleboun

Adding a webpage

All pages should be a subpage of the home page. (The structure of the site is imposed manually - see below. This is so the list of updates works as desired).

To add a subpage:

  • Go to the template page.
  • Click on 'Edit' at the top right of the webpage.
  • Click on 'Copy pages' under 'Manage Page'.
  • In the 'New page name' and 'New link caption' boxes type a name for the page you are adding (replace any spaces/punctuation with underscores in the 'new page name' box).
  • Click on 'copy' and then on the link to the newly created page.
  • Click on 'Edit' at the top right of the webpage and then on 'Edit properties' under 'Manage Page'.
  • Type the page name into the first two boxes (it should already be in the third box).
  • Click on 'save' and then 'done' (top right of page).
  • You should add navigational links at the top of the page, specifying where your page fits in to the rest of the website.
    e.g. home >> Finance >> Funding >> your_new_page_name
If you are unsure how to do the links, just type in the text and SH will do it.
If you are unsure where the page should go, just put: home >> your_new_page_name
and SH will change it if necessary.

Viewing history

To view revision history of the page you are viewing:

  • Click on 'Edit' at the top right of the webpage.
  • Click on the 'History' tab. A list of old page versions appears showing who made revisions and when.
  • You can view an older version by clicking on the magnifying glass.
  • You can compare to versions by selecting them using the tick boxes and then clicking on 'compare' above the times and dates.
  • Be careful not to restore an older version of the page unless you really mean to!!
