IATL Announces new Director
We are delighted to announce that the University has concluded an appointment process for our next Director and that Dr Elena RivaLink opens in a new window has been approved by the Committee on the Appointment of Heads of Department to succeed Professor Jonny HeronLink opens in a new window.
‘I am sure that Elena will make an excellent IATL Director. There was very strong support for Elena’s nomination across the department, and the entire process was very collegial. We can be confident that IATL will continue to grow and evolve under her academic leadership. Elena takes over from Jonny who during his tenure has step changed IATL’s contribution to University Education Strategy across a broad portfolio of interdisciplinary education, student research, and educational innovation during his five years as Director. Since 2018, the Institute has greatly expanded its activities by incubating new interdisciplinary programmes, introducing new global partners through ICUR and establishing new collaborations in strategically important areas such as inclusive education and public engagement.’ Professor Chris Hughes (PVC Education)

Elena will shadow Jonny over the coming months, and Jonny will step down as Director in July 2023.
