IATL Visit to Monash University
IATL Director Invited to Speak at the Launch of the Monash Education Academy
Dr Nicholas Monk was invited to speak at the official launch of the Monash Education Academy on Wednesday 18th March, while on a recent visit to Monash University. The Monash Education Academy was launched by the President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Margaret Gardner AO, and was described by Professor Darrell Evans, the Vice-Provost (Learning and Teaching) at Monash, as being an important milestone in Monash's ongoing commitment to excellence in education.
During the launch Dr Nicholas Monk delivered a presentation entitled 'The Role of the International Education Academy in a Research-led Institution'. The launch also saw the induction of the first ten Foundation Fellows into the Academy, with each Fellow being chosen for their dedication to and demonstration of teaching excellence and innovation.
IATL's Ongoing and Future Collaborations with Monash University
In March, our Director, Dr Nicholas Monk and Senior Teaching Fellow, Jonathan Heron, travelled to Monash University to develop further collaborative interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary projects (with the Centre for Theatre and Performance and the School of Chemistry). As part of this visit, Dr Paul Prescott (English and Comparative Literary Studies) held meetings with Monash colleagues in relation to our Global Shakespeare programme. IATL already co-teaches two interdisciplinary modules (Global Connections and Human Lives) with Monash and will be launching a new module to in the autumn term of 2015 (Digital Humanities and Texts). In addition, we have been supporting the use of the International Portal to offer Warwick students 'travel-free' international experiences with faculty and students from Monash.
