Student Testimonials
'I wish more students had to opportunity to take classes with IATL. There is so much space to understand the world and ourselves within this world. my IATL module gave me a new appreciation of interdisciplinary studies that I wouldn’t have otherwise.'
‘You absolutely have to study with IATL! You get to meet so many different people, in different years and different departments. The content of the modules is refreshingly different and so relevant to real-world topics. On top of all that, the ethos of the department means that I really felt like I was appreciated and listened to, and all the staff have been incredibly kind and helpful’
What students say about our modules

The openness and interactive nature of the module; the atmosphere was a very safe space, allowing me to feel comfortable to voice opinions, thoughts and personal experiences. The assignment was not a formal academic essay and allowed us to communicate more naturally.
IL001/IL101 Forms of Identity
Seminars were delivered in a way that always engaged me in intense critical thinking. This made me interact with the materials in the same way and continue thinking about the topics taught in the module even outside of seminars. I found that stepping out of my discipline was a refreshing change to my learning.
IL002/IL102 Navigating Psychopathology 2023-24
I found that by having a range of disciplines in our class, I could see many perspectives, a lot of which I would not be able to see myself. As a result of this, I greatly developed my problem solving abilities, both in a direct sense from my own discipline but now I believe this module has given me a create problem solving ability by looking at scenarios from a variety of perspectives.
IL014/IL114 Global Connections 2023-24
I love the way of module engages conversations between us; it motivates the learning process by sharing and receiving ideas from others especially in some topics that I surprisingly found myself having very different opinions to others.
IL028/IL128 Understanding Wellbeing
This is genuinely the most fun and innovative module I have ever taken, it makes learning fun and there is always support given when needed. Being able to create a physical end game to your module work feels very satisfying.
IL031/IL131 Serious Tabletop Game Design and Development
I love the flexibility the course gives, a liberating educational experience.
IL032/IL132 Change
The class size was relatively small, and since most of my other lectures have 300 students this forces me to come into the spotlight.
