Take an Interdisciplinary Module

Our modules are available to all undergraduates in years 2, 3 or 4 and all postgraduate students.

All IATL modules are approved to ensure that students from different years and different departments can study together to provide a rich and exciting experience. To apply to study with us you need to be in your second year of study or above and you need to gain approval from your home department. You can then complete our undergraduate application formLink opens in a new window which is usually open from March or our postgraduate application form Link opens in a new windowwhich is usually open from September until places are filled. Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis. However, in the event of a module being oversubscribed, priority will be given to students taking the module for credit over those auditing or 'overcatting', and to students in their final year of study.

IATL supports opportunities for you to present your research at national and international conferences.

The International Conference of Undergraduate Research (ICUR)is an annual international and interdisciplinary conference held at the University of Warwick and partner institutions.

ICUR connects hundreds of students from around the world to share their research every year. If you have a project or a piece of work that you'd like to present, you can submit an abstract through our ICUR Portal when submissions are open (generally between January and May each year). Within the portal, you will find a wealth of resources to help you to write your abstract, prepare your presentation or poster and tips by students, for students to help prepare for your first conference presentation.

In April 2023 IATL and Warwick hosted the World Congress on Undergraduate Research (WorldCUR) Link opens in a new windowand British Conference of Undergraduate Research (BCUR)Link opens in a new window, welcoming undergraduate researchers and supporters from all over the world. WorldCUR is hosted every three years by different institutions internationally and BCUR is hosted annually at different UK institutions. IATL supports Warwick students attendance at both of these events. IATL also leads the national event Posters in Parliament Link opens in a new window– an opportunity for student researchers at UK institutions to present their research to MPs, and to inform ongoing debates and policies.

Submit a paper to Reinvention: an International Journal of Undergraduate Research

Submissions to Reinvention are accepted at any time, with standard issues published twice a year at the end of April and the end of October. Comprehensive information and guidance, including top tips, a style guide and in-depth submission guidance can be found on the Reinvention website along with details of any vacancies in the student team should you want to work with the journal team.

Propose your own IATL Student Project

Student projects are an extra-curricular opportunity to develop your own, student-led, original research or performance project, or to co-create a project with a member of staff. Support and funding are available to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Studying and learning is not all about graded academic knowledge and the University experience aims to reflect this.

All these learning experiences are not for credit and co-created with students and staff to ensure they are tailored to your needs.
