Poetry in the Field
Poetry in the Field is an attempt to explore creative writing in radical interdisciplinary contexts. Over the course of several sessions, students will develop an understanding of how poetry and creative language in general can be used to engage with the world in innovative ways.
Sessions include collaborative lectures and practical demonstrations with Engineering, Law, Chemistry and Physics departments; a workshop with a falconer, led by prize-winning novelist AL Kennedy; a session on tradition and form in martial arts and poetry in a sports hall; and workshops literally 'in the field' on campus, to Stowe Landscape Gardens and to London, exploring ideas of ecopoetry and the new pastoral.
Numbers are limited for some of the workshops, places open to all. Certain lectures (such as Prof. Emeritus George Rowlands on fractals) will have larger capacity.
