Say it Loud
'Say it Loud' is a multi-authored piece of theatre that examines the UK’s response to the Syrian refugee crisis through collating a vast number of voices. This unique production has developed into a piece about privilege, frustration, openness, activism, asylum and apathy, as well as exploring how the political affects us personally. The play was co-written by 16 people from the University and around the UK, many of them first time writers, and was developed in residence at Wilton’s Music Hall, London, as part of their ‘Plays Without Décor’ programme. It was one of fourteen productions selected to be shown at the National Student Drama Festival in 2017.
The project was put together by Feat.Theatre, a company founded at Warwick University that is committed to making socially and/or politically engaged theatre with a key focus on diversity. When casting for 'Say it Loud', the company ensure the inclusion of actors who are underrepresented within the wider theatre industry to give it a multifaceted perspective. Each performance of the show incorporates a new writer so that no two productions are the same. 'Say it Loud' is a thought-provoking play used as a vehicle to encourage dialogues, increase awareness and raise money for charity.
